Grand Opening of Fairhaven Place: 200 Affordable Homes in Gastonia, North Carolina

Hunt Capital Partners and The Commonwealth Companies celebrated the grand opening of Fairhaven Place, a landmark $51 million development that brings 200 units of affordable housing to Gaston County's low-to-moderate income (LMI) community. The project stands as one of the largest investments in the county's history, directly addressing the urgent need for safe, quality, and affordable housing options.

Located just two miles south of Gastonia’s historic downtown, Fairhaven Place is designed with community and convenience in mind. The development features a mix of 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units, all situated within ten thoughtfully designed midrise residential buildings. Residents will enjoy a range of amenities, including a playground for children, a dog park, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The standalone resident clubhouse serves as a hub for community interaction, offering leasing offices, a multipurpose room with a kitchenette, and a business/computer room.

Fairhaven Place is a vibrant community anchored by its park-like setting, with lush landscaping, serene walking paths, and inviting sitting areas. The development’s strategic location ensures that residents have convenient access to essential services, including public schools, grocery shopping, health services, and employment opportunities. The city center of Charlotte is merely 25 miles to the east, while Crowders Mountain State Park lies just 6 miles to the west.

The development was financed, in part, with $24.1 million in federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits syndicated by Hunt Capital Partners. Lenders included Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust and Align Capital Partners.
